About:
Rev. L.D. (Doug) Ervin, the 8th of 12 children, was born in rural Rock Hill, South Carolina. He serves as pastor, Belfast United Methodist Church in Goshen, Ohio. In 2001, after 28 years of government service, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service, including 20 years in federal law enforcement as a U.S. Postal Inspector. He has two daughters, Lisa and Courtney, and resides in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio.
Education:
He attended Adelphi Business School (Mineola, NY); conferred with a BS Degree in Criminal Justice from Washburn University (Topeka, KS); an MS Degree in
Criminal Justice from Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH); an MA Degree in
Ministry from Cincinnati Christian University; and a Master of Divinity
Degree from Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, KY).

Military:
He is a 31 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, including four years active duty, and 16 years as Special Agent (reserve), Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI). He retired in 2001, while assigned to Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio.
Membership Organizations:
He is a member of the Association of Former AFOSI Special Agents; and is a life-time member of the NAACP.
Other:
As an ordained clergy, Rev. Ervin has served as a guest speaker at various churches in Cincinnati; Topeka, Kansas; Memphis, Tennessee; and South Carolina. As a historian, he has lectured at colleges, educational institutions, seminars, conventions, and events in Ohio; Michigan; Kansas; Kentucky; and the DuSable Museum, Chicago, Illinois.
In addition, he serves as a Docent (Exhibit Interpreter), the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Mentor, Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Program.
